Balmy and mild warm weather months are popular among visitors and locals alike for taking advantage of the green scenery and rushing wetlands. Green Mountain National Forest and Fisher Pines Natural Area are terrific locations for hiking, trekking, horseback riding, mountain biking, wildlife watching, and practicing photography. Various surrounding lakes and rivers, like Batten Kill River, are great for swimming, kayaking, canoeing, boating, and multiple types of fishing.
As the season changes from warm to cold, the changing leaves attract visitors for scenic drives along the vibrant colored roads. Winter calls for the ski resorts to open their doors and are extremely popular for downhill skiing and snowboarding, while flatter terrain beneath the mountains is popular for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, riding snowmobiles, and even ice fishing and ice skating.
The towns of Sunderland and Manchester are lovely small towns with great histories that would be of interest to glampers who want to learn more about the local culture and history. After a long day on the slopes, guests can head into town and try the local gastronomy at the bars and restaurants, or go shopping or antiquing at the boutiques and antique shops.
