This campground is located in Sturgis, South Dakota, and is surrounded by rugged mountains, rocky cliffs, and lush pine forests. The campground is right next to the Black Hills National Forest and is close to an hour away from Badlands National Park. Sturgis is around 15 minutes away from Bear Butte Lake and Bear Butte State Park. Sturgis is also 45 minutes away from Mount Rushmore and Custer State Park. The closest airport is Rapid City Regional Airport, which is about 45 minutes away from the campground. The campground is right next to the Black Hills National Forest. Here guests can go hiking, cycling, climbing, rappelling, and horseback riding. Four-wheelers can ride directly to the trails in the National Forest. Guests can also view wildlife, have picnics, and take scenic drives. Guests with proper licenses can go hunting. In the winter, guests can go skiing, snowmobiling, and ice skating. In the summer, guests can fish, swim, boat, and ride jet-skis.
Guests at the campground will only be 45 minutes away from Mount Rushmore, one of the country's most famous monuments. About half an hour away from Mount Rushmore is Custer State Park, where guests can go hiking, mountain biking, swimming, paddle-boarding, and fishing. The wildlife loop offers visitors close up views of the native buffalo, elk, antelope, eagles, deer, and donkeys. During the designated season and with a proper license, guests can also go hunting at Custer State Park.
Guests can take day trips to Badlands National Park for more hiking, biking, scenic drives, and opportunities for viewing wildlife. In addition, guests can take day trips to Bear Butte State Park for hiking and climbing, or go fishing and boating on Bear Butte Lake.
There is a lot of history and Native American culture in South Dakota's Black Hills region. Guests can visit Deadwood, an old Western town with lots of interesting museums. They can also visit the Crazy Horse Memorial, a mountain monument dedicated to Native American tribes.
If guests don't feel like traveling too far, there is plenty of fun outdoor activities at the campground. The campground has its own hiking trail with spectacular views of the cliffs and canyons that characterize South Dakota's Black Hills region. Children can play on the playground or in the outdoor swimming pool. Guests can play a game of basketball or some billiards in the game room. Additionally, guests can relax in a hot tub.
At night, guests can unwind around the fire pit or in the beer garden as they listen to music. The campground hosts weekly live music sessions, and several events year round like car shows and motorcycle rallies. This is a great place for weddings, family reunions, retreats, and group events.
