Biking trails are in the neighborhood, and hiking is just outside the back door. Boat access is available at the boat launch at sunshine bay, just down the road. Guests can keep their boats anchored off the shore, but they should be concerned about heavy swells during storms or in the evenings with access wind or moon phases. It would be best to drag a boat on shore and rake an entry by a clearing of rocks. The clearing has been washed in, but it shouldn't be too much to clear again.
Kootenay Lake is the largest lake in British Columbia and it is also full of surprises. Fishing is very popular, and fishing tours are available right across the lake in Balfour, in the channel. Balfour also hosts a ferry landing, a local pub, a family restaurant, burgers, postoffice, fishing supplies, a bakery, sailing tours, and other novelty stores. Guests have often kayaked to Balfour for a dinner out.
