Walhalla

The town of Walhalla, South Carolina, famous for its Germanic heritage and its Oktoberfest, lies nestled in the foothills of the storied Blue Ridge Mountains in Oconee County, the westernmost in the state. Hikers will enjoy the chance to explore nearby Sumter National Forest, the only National Forest in the US to straddle the borders of three different states, with its complex old-growth ecosystem, radiantly-hued fall colors, and fauna that ranges from bears to hummingbirds and beavers.
