Shelby

Located in southeast Texas, Shelby was established in the 1840s and soon after attracted many German settlers. Just outside of Austin, glampers living in the city can easily come to Shelby for a weekend getaway, and visitors flying in from out of state don’t have far to drive before reaching their final destination. To the east is Sam Houston National Forest, where hikers can find the Lone Star Hiking Trail. Nature lovers should head to Big Creek Scenic Area for the diverse vegetation and beautiful surroundings. In the humid subtropical climate, summers can be exceedingly hot. To cool off in the summer, head to Lake Conroe and Lake Livingston. Go boating, fishing, kayaking, paddleboarding, or swimming.
