Description of Glamping Units
This former photographer's studio is a charming and colorful pet-friendly cabin in West Texas. This is a perfect family and pet-friendly glamping getaway in the city of Alpine. The cabin has two private front entrances and one back door leading out to a lovely backyard. There are two bedrooms with king-size, full-size, and twin beds, and one bathroom. The kitchen comes fully stocked and has a sized-down fridge, toaster, oven, microwave, a single hotplate burner, and a double sink.
The king-size bed is a plush, organic, Talalay latex and cotton mattress, and in the next room, separated by curtains, there is a full-size bed with soft sheets and a light down comforter for chilly high desert evenings. There is an additional twin-size antique Portuguese bed in the adjoining room.
High-speed internet, central air-conditioning, and heating have all been installed for guests' total comfort. There is also a washer and dryer for guests to use. There is no cable, but there is a television with 25 DVD movies for guest use along with card games. This glamping rental is a half block south of the Amtrak station, where there is some occasional train noise so the host supplies individually wrapped earplugs for sensitive sleepers.
There is a full refund minus $100 if guests cancel within three weeks of reservation.
No parties and/or loud noise are permitted after 10 p.m.

Location + Surroundings
Alpine is the gateway to the Big Bend region, located in the Chihuahuan Desert Mountains of West Texas. Alpine is located at the hub of the wheel with the neighboring communities of Marfa to the west, Marathon to the east, and Fort Davis to the north, all at approximately 25 minutes away. Big Bend National and State Parks and Terlingua are about an hour south of the glamping site and offer plenty of fun and cultural opportunities for guests to spend their days exploring. Guests can cross into Ojinaga, Mexico south of Marfa in Presidio. El Paso is approximately 3 hours northwest, and Austin, the capital of Texas, is about six hours away.
The skies are extraordinarily clear and bright in this part of the world, and McDonald's Observatory is a popular destination. This cabin rental is located two doors down from several fun shops and restaurants where guests can dine on tasty Mexican food, enjoy delicious coffee, the internet and slurp icy raspas, and shop for gifts and treasures. There is plenty for guests to do in and around the Alpine, Texas area, from exploring the historical town where guests can broaden their minds from their surroundings. Guests can hike to Big Bend National Park, where plenty of trekking, mountain biking, and swimming opportunities await them.
Additionally, guests can simply marvel at the stunning landscapes and mountain views in the national park. Glampers can find their way to Pine Canyon Falls within Big Bend National Park, for stunning views and breathtaking natural scenery.
Alpine Country Club Golf Course offers day passes for glampers and the Marfa Golf Club and Lajitas Resort down south houses more golfing facilities. Big Bend River Rafting on the Rio Grande is a popular activity - day and overnight trips are available.
Sul Ross State University is located in Alpine and offers an olympic-size indoor pool, a museum, and lots of rugged mountainous bike trails. Prude Ranch (near McDonald;s Observatory - GREAT star parties) in Fort Davis offers horseback riding and other "ranch oriented" activities.
