Fostering Hope

By David Pope

Foster a dog, save a life. It sounds like a pretty simple idea, and that's because, well... it is! Fostering means taking in an animal from a rescue or a shelter, and giving them a home until they can be adopted. Fostering doesn't just make it more likely that a pet will be adopted in the future, it also reduces the strain on shelters, and prevents animals being put down for lack of space.

Glamping with Pets is thrilled to spread the word about Barks of Love, Orange County's 100% no-kill, all-volunteer, foster-based dog rescue. The folks behind this important operation are committed to finding the perfect home for their canine wards, and have a rigorous process to ensure that the right pups are matched with the right people. And as well as arranging traditional adoptions, Barks of Love also runs a phenomenal foster program.

Following the same process as an adoption, rescue dogs are matched with foster owners according to their needs, temperament, and personality, until a permanent home can be found. But better yet, it's completely free for the foster owners!

Barks of Love covers all of the living and veterinary expenses that may arise during the course of the time in a foster home. So fosters not only save a life, but get the full experience of dog ownership without the expense and long-term commitment that many people can't afford or take on.

The more foster homes are found, the more space the shelter has for rescue dogs, so why not become a foster today! You can check out Barks of Love, and their foster program, right here. Not an Orange County local? That's ok, there are plenty of rescues and foster programs running throughout the United States and beyond, so take a look and see how you can save a life and find a new friend!
